Together with the U.S. Forest Service, we acquired this high-priority landscape in 2008 and are now raising money to transfer the entire property to the Forest Service and state of Tennessee for permanent ownership and management. Along the western boundary of the park and immediately adjacent to suburban Anchorage lies the 149-acre Near Point property, an access point for the park. First slated as an antenna farm and then for residential development, we worked with the community to acquire the property and are trying to raise funds to transfer it to the park.
