In 2010, the Conservation Leadership Network will deliver two new pilot courses: Conservation Banking, a course for regulators, users, and bankers; and a course entitled Planning for Climate Change Using a Green Infrastructure Approach.
The Climate Change course, being offered in April 2010 will provide instruction on how to use the Green Infrastructure approach to plan, adapt, and mitigate for the effects of climate change. While the first pilot offering will focus on a coastal area, namely the Chesapeake Bay, the course will look at impacts beyond storm surge to include rising temperatures and increased precipitation. Stay tuned for more details on this innovative offering!
The second course on Conservation Banking will be piloted July 19 – 23, 2010, at the National Conservation Training Center. This course is being developed by the Conservation Fund and the U.S. FWS in partnership with the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Federal Highway Administration, USDA Forest Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Mitigation Bankers Association, an unprecedented convening of interest. The course is offered under the theory of to ‘practice together tomorrow, we must learn together today’ and as such, is open to regulators, users, and bankers, and will cover everything from statutory authorities to credit methodologies to long-term stewardship. Watch for further details!
Both pilot courses will take place at the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) in Shepherdstown, WV.
