Mountain West

Running along the Rocky Mountain spine, from Colorado’s Pike’s Peak to Montana’s spectacular Glacier National Park, the land of the American Intermountain West amazes visitors and residents alike. Wild rivers, high-elevation deserts and aspen-ringed alpine meadows create diverse wildlife habitat and unsurpassed recreation opportunities. They also provide the critical economic underpinning for the region’s working landscapes. Since 1985, the Fund has protected more than 660,000 acres in the Mountain West Region.

Colorado

The sweeping open spaces and striking mountain landscapes of Colorado are a haven for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The Fund and its partners have already protected more than 196,000 acres here, including more than 33,000 acres of breathtaking vistas and wildlife habitat along Colorado’s I-25 corridor.  Read more>

Idaho

Working in cooperation with local land trusts, the Fund has helped to safeguard Idaho’s working landscapes and popular recreation destinations, including more than 10,300 acres of wildlife habitat within the Greater Yellowstone ecoregion and a total of more than 130,000 acres across the state.  Read more>

Montana

Working closely with private landowners, public agencies and local conservation groups, the Fund has protected more than 130,000 acres of wildlife habitat, working ranchland and historic sites in Montana.  Read more>

Utah

From the striking mesas of the Colorado River Plateau to the banks of the Kern River, more than 117,000 acres of Utah’s unparalleled wildlife habitat, recreation areas and scenic vistas are now protected thanks to the work of the Fund and its conservation partners.  Read more>

Wyoming

Home to one of the nation’s most popular national parks and some of the best fishing in the Western United States, Wyoming’s status as a top recreation destination is on the rise. With a record of more than 76,000 acres protected across the state, the Fund and its partners are ensuring that the state’s magnificent natural areas and the wildlife populations they support will continue to thrive for future generations of visitors to enjoy.  Read more>
