The easements on Cottonwood Ranch not only preserve a family legacy of ranching, but also protect critical wildlife habitat. Protecting this working land provides high quality, year-round wildlife habitat for Shiras moose, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, many migratory bird species and the endangered sage grouse, pictured above. The sage grouse population has decreased dramatically across the West, where it was once found in great numbers. In Wyoming alone, the population has decreased an estimated 70 percent in the past 50 years.
